iPad Chrome on OSX is handing off to Safari on iOS 11

I noticed a weird issue. When I'm using chrome on my macbook...the Safari icon pops up on the ios11 dock with the tabs I'm using in chrome...

Should that be happening?

If Chrome is set to default browser on your mac (at least, its my default browser on computer) yes, chrome tab will show on iOS Safari and handoff with safari on iOS will show a chrome icon on your macOS dock.
