I am using el capitan and newest version of chrome. for the second time in a month something has hijacked my chrome. It set the default search to german and would not change back. Ive tried emptying everything like cookies and cache and history and setting back the homepage default to google as well as modify the search parameters to not redirect to german site. all the settings are ignored and all my searches are redirected to german website as well as homepage. Even if my homepage is reset it ignores it and goes to the german version anyway. I also tried resetting everything to default which did nothing.
This effected mainly chrome as it was my default browser. I tried deleting chrome and downloading it again and this fixed it temporarily. Then about 4 weeks later the same thing happens except the default webpage was set to arabic as well as arabic search. no setting I changed would fix this in chrome. This time it also effected safari also setting my homepage and default search to arabic. I could not fix it I actually had to reinstall OS X to get rid of it. even deleting chrome and safari and reinstalling still made no difference. Ive deleted cookies and cache and every other trick I can think of with no result. It ignores what I do and goes to arabic anyway. There is no extensions installed or anything like that either.
