When I connect my iphone to the Chromebook, the photos show up as HEIC. So when I open each photo on the Chromebook, it doesn't open the photo. Is there an extension you can download so any photo you open, opens up?

I read there is an online converter but if you do that, you need to do it for each photo individually? So if I have 3000 photos that I am transferring to my Chromebook, what is the most simple way to convert it to jpeg or whatever format that would make the photos open on the Chromebook? I am aware a Chromebook doesn't work with an apple iPhone.

If you install Homebrew from https://brew.sh/ in Terminal.app and then install ImageMagick with brew you can use it to batch convert any amount of images from just about any format, including HEIC, to just about any other format, with one command.

I checked that site but that only has one review for imagemagick and not good?

So there isn't a popular app from the android play store for this?

ImageMagick has been around for decades and has been a standard tool on Linux and other Unix systems for nearly as long and is widely used by many people. Doesn't get much more popular than that. Since I don't use Android I can't recommend anything on the Play Store, but perhaps somebody else can.

Is there a reason why it has almost no reviews though on the Google play store on this?

Probably because it's not got a flashy user interface? It's old and very powerful but you need to use it from the shell. At least normally, don't know how it works on Android.

So that is the only program then right for the Chromebook? It just having no review is what bothers me about this.

The only other way is to convert all the photos with an online converter right? But are there any security issues with that? I read it does delete it later on.

Have not messed with Apple to Android transfers, but there is a setting in Photos app that is supposed to help with converting to "correct" format when sending, sharing, etc. For example, when attaching an image to an email, my HEIC format pic will be converted to jpeg.

In the settings for Photos, "Transfer to Mac or PC", "Automatic". Can't recall what the default for this is as think I set it to Automatic many years ago, whenever Apple started to use HEIC as default.

Was able to copy images from Photos and paste them to my Files app under "On My iPhone" and images were converted to jpeg there as well. So can select a bunch, copy, paste, do something and or move to some other place.

If comfortable with coding, Shortcuts has the ability to convert images to other formats. "Convert Image" action.

Okay so I just noticed that. So it seems it shows high efficiency and most compatible for mine. Any reason why it shows that in your pictures. It mentions to reduce file size, capture photos and videos in the high efficiency HEIC/HEVC format. Most compatible will always use JPEG/H. 264.

It shows Format at the top and not Photos as well. What iPhone are you using there? Or is this another section on it?

Wrong settings. You're looking at Camera in Settings. Need to look at Photos app.

But that can help as well: Most Compatible. Will take pictures in jpeg instead of heic.

Where is the photos app? I can't find that one so that is why I went to camera.
