Back when the rMBP first came out I watched all those videos of people running tests on the CPU/GPU. More notably the test that people did with Cinebench I noticed that they averaged around 30-35fps. Fast forward to now I finally decide to download Cinebench myself and do the test to surprisingly find that I'm averaging 38-40fps when running the OpenCL test.

Is the improved FPS due to the updated drivers that nvida has released for the GPU? Or has it been software updates from Apple?

Or have they always been averaging the 40FPS and the ones that I've seen in early videos just flukes?

Perhaps the 30-35 fps is the result of the base 15" rMBP. I did the benchmark a month ago with my 2.3GHz rMBP and got around 35 fps.
