Hey all,

I own an aluminum 23 inch Apple Cinema Display that just recently stopped working.

Just recently, When I plugged the monitor into my Macbook Pro, the monitor turned on correctly, but the display started flashing -- one second it would show the correct image, the next second it would show a black screen. At that point, the monitor's power seemed to be working fine. I got no amber lights, and the monitor would turn on and off fine. After a couple minutes of my monitor flashing, while I tested connections and made sure everything was plugged in correctly, the monitor died completely, and now no longer seems to turn on (no lights on the monitor when I turn it on, and the display itself doesn't show anything).

I have tried plugging it in to different wall sockets, in case that was an issue, but that appears to be fine. This display is too old to be under warranty, and the closest Apple store (with a Genius bar) is about 2 hours away.

Any suggestions? My initial guess is that it is the monitor itself has an issue, not the power adapter. Should I try to call Apple and send it in? Is the new 24" monitor worth the price? Even if I buy it refurbished, it's $700, compared to half that for other brands (Dell, Samsung, etc).
