If I buy a cinema display 23" refurb would I be getting a new 2006 or the old 2004 model.

I can't imagine why they would have anything older than a year in the refurb store so my slightly educated guess is newer.

There was a contrast ratio update for the smaller two of the three models in 2006. They are not the same.

Don't forget a brightness upgrade too, though you won't notice any difference unless you compared the two side by side.
