I have an Apple 23'' Cinema HD display hooked up to my 24'' core 2 white iMac. This thing is over a year old and has worked well for that whole time. But just recently, it has started giving me problems.

When I start up my iMac, it get recognized by the computer, but the screen doesn't show anything, even though I can move my mouse and drag windows onto it, I cannot see them. Pressing the power button on the side causes the light to fade on and then shut off suddenly. Also, USB devices I have plugged into it are not recognized. If I un plug the DVI cable, the power light on it acts normally again, fading on and off when I hit the power button. If I leave the DVI cabled plugged into the iMac, but unplug the power cable from the display, it still is recognized as there by the iMac. I know the display it self isnt dead because after I played with plugging and unplugging different wires and restarting my imac a couple times I got it to work.

I'm thinking this is a faulty power cable, but I know he display is out of warranty (It also was given to me as a hand me down gift) And I don't want to have to deal with packing it and taking it to the apple store to wait half an hour before being charged for repairs/a new power brick/whatever it needs.

Does anyone know any fixes or have a different idea of what is wrong? I do tons of graphic work that requires my second display to work so I need a fix as soon as possible, thanks.
