Cirrus Logic sound crackling cs4206a (AB 01)

The problem triggered when i played the Mafia 2 demo a while back. During the beginning sound coming from the radio was distorted, synthesized, & crackling. Thinking it was an issues with the game, i didn't pay attention.

After the game closed, the problems persisted when ever i multitask such as Playing a game and web browser, or web browsing and watching a video.

I made windows search for the drive. No luck
I went to the CD and tried the vista 32 & 64 and xp drivers. No luck
Googling around, tried looking for the driver and it doesn't exist from this point.

I tried one particular driver Cirrus Logic HD that seems to tone down on the crackling, but not getting rid of it completely.

Any suggests or should a reformat help?

Please let me know if you've figured anything out, or if you ever do. I'm having the same problem, we use mac minis in our lecture halls and the audio is terrible. I thought it was the speakers until I plugged something else into the same audio jack and it came out crystal clear.
