Hello,

I've got a relatively new MBP and I play Civilization 4 from time to time and it crashes a lot. Just basically gives up and goes back to my desktop.

I just wondered if this is a Mac Gaming thing (I'm relatively new to my Mac) or whether something else is conflicting. It seems bizarre to me, but on one of the other threads I read that MSN messenger for the Mac can conflict and cause stuff to crash and to get Atrium - but does anyone else have any recommendations at all?

Cheers,

Jon.

Civ 4 is very picky about hardware and on some setups tends to crash quite frequently. Make sure you've got the latest patch installed. I've also found that having more RAM tends to reduce the amount of crashing.

Yes, crashes on my MBP a lot, too. There's probably a problem with the game on this machine but I learned to live with it.

I went the Crossover Games route for Civ 4 and bought it with Steam. It downloaded and installed just fine and runs just fine that way. I wanted Beyond the Sword because all the good Civ 4 mods require it to work, and it was only available with the Windows version. So far I've had no issues with playing in Crossover Games.
