CL2 and CL3 Ram??

I have 2 - 512 MB CL2 ram chips that I got from OWC. I also have the original 256 MB CL3 chip that was included with my quicksilver. My question is will there be a speed increase if I take out the CL3 chip and just use the gig of CL2 ram?

I know that this question has been asked before, but I have quite a bit of CL2 ram and I don't think that having the extra 256 MB will help all that much; at least that's what I believe.
