Bought a 300mHz, blueberry clamshell iBook.

One of the previous owners swapped the whole display assembly(including the casing) from an indigo iBook.

They also removed the silver/white inner liner of the palm rest part of the case, so you can see all the inners right there and it's a dull translucent, whereas the top half(with the display) is a vibrant white and blue.

I'm not worried about the lower case matching the top, the blueberry and indigo look okay together.

What I want to know is, will the trackpad/palm rest assembly from an indigo iBook work on my Blueberry one? (I know the auction in my link is over, just the only blueberry one I could find.)

And if it is compatible, is it an easy swap? And will there be any keyboard issues?

Swapping this will just make it look better when it's opened and being used.

Thanks for your help.

The indigo should work fine on the blueberry, even though they are at different ends of the clamshell time line.

It is an easy swap, compared to, say, taking out the logic board. ifixit.com should have a step-by-step take apart guide so you can judge for yourself whether you feel comfortable with it.

Thanks for the response.

I'm pretty delicate, and I'm quite mechanically and technologically inclined. Judging by the website, swapping the whole case wouldn't evenbe that big of a deal(and would provide and opportunity to swap in a bigger HD); but this looks relatively easy. Now just to find it in Indigo.....

Just did this.

Not a bad job at all, and it fit. Makes the iBook look alot better.

Next question....

Will the Indigo era iBook keyboard work on this iBook? As in, is the connector ribbon the same?
