clamshell mode issue!!!

I just got an Asus VH238H for use with my MBP 13 and I am having issues getting it to work in clamshell mode. I have the monitor hooked up using HDMI at the moment. Everything is works fine when not in clamshell mode but the second I close the lid the monitor says no connection found. I need help please.

I am using a Apple wired keyboard and a MagicMouse, when I close the lid and move them nothing happens. Not sure what I am doing wrong or not doing. I'm getting frustrated!!!

This may be a stoopid question, but here goes anyway: Do you have the MBP connected to AC? Clamshell mode does not work if the MagSafe charger isn't plugged-in.

Not a stupid question and yes I do have it connected.

I figured it out, I had the monitor set as the main screen so every time I would close the lid it would go to sleep, I switched it to the MBP being the main screen and now it is working.

Now all I have to do is get the Asus screen to look half way like my MBP screen. Should I calibrate the screen through system pref?
