Clamshell mode with an Apple TV?

can you use clamshell mode with a MacBook and Apple TV? https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201834

So once you have an external Keyboard and mouse connected clamshell will work the exact same way as it would with a cable to a monitor?

I cant find any info in APpe link, or YouTube vids thats all
