clamshell mode with iphone as wifi remote?

iv been up all night trying to figure out a solution this hdtv as external display problem, and i just cant figure it out. I want to, if possible:

1. connect the macbook pro (13" mid 2010) to my plasma tv

2. Close the lid of the macbook pro

3. use my iphone as a wifi remote to control plex, as thats the program im wanting to use with this, i got as far as using the tv as an extended display, dragging the plex into the tv part of the display, and full screening it there. I tried mirroring, but the resolution was bad whereas with extended display it looked so much better, i want it at full 1080p is possible, help?

You could try InsomniaX. Its a free app that lets you put your lid down while keeping your mac from going to sleep. I use it all the time when I just want to listen to music with the lid down and I control iTunes from my iPod touch using the "Remote" app.
