Hi All,

I've recently got back into console gaming (haven't owned a console since
the PS1) and Xbox Live is a new concept to me.

What's the point of a 'clan'?
I realise it's a group of people all sharing the same clan name which gets
placed before their name.

But, is there anything it offers other than that?
ie: If I'm in a clan, will I know who all the other clan members are?
will other clan members get priority when I'm looking for an on-line
game to join?

Well, I'm 'johndoe2202' on Xbox360...feel free to add me.

I play CoD4 on-line.

Cheers,

There is absolutely no functionality benefit from having a clan tag in xbox 360

it does not do any of what you mentioned.

I think it's pretty stupid but it does absolutely nothing.

It's just a thing you put before your name so people go "OMG that person is too l33t I best watch out". Only most of the time they're just people with annoying text in their names, and on my most used, down to earth server on TF2 they're ridiculed to high heaven.

thanks

well, it's comforting to know i'm not missing out on anything by not
being in one.

Well I'm kind of in a clan, but it's more of an acutal gaming community for the over 21's. You have to play with and be approved by 10 members before you're allowed in - keeps kids and screaming idiots at bay! But it's a nice ad hoc arrangement, not to be taken seriously (i.e. tactic discussions, practicing etc). Does make for some great CoD4 sessions though!

clans arent really anything, like in halo 3, its just something fun you set up, its not like a big thing like in the MLG (major league gaming, in case you didnt know) I am in a clan but its just a fun little thing we do.

It makes you look cooler.

My friends and I just put clan tags on in CoD4. Its just a easier way to see who your friends are I guess
