clarification on vista upgrades

Hi guys!
I was intending to bid for a MS vista ultimate on ebay to load it on my MB (2.2 Ghz, SR, Leopard). Three questions
1.Does 32bit and 64 bit make any difference?
2. Whether also any updates on vista i.e. service packs are free once you bought Vista??
3. How can we know that the software is genuine??
