I know there's a lot of MR members going away to college for the first time in the fall, and probably a lot of you just made your decision today (May 1 being the deadline for most colleges).

Where is everyone going? Major? Be interesting to see where the Mac users are headed :p

I've decided to go to NYU, which has been my dream for years. I had to give up my idea for a PowerMac (my parents would have gotten me almost any PowerMac I wanted if I had gone to Ga Tech....but I really, really loved NYU). I'll be a Communications major. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get my 23" Cinema display to New York from Georgia? Ship it?

I start September 5th. I can't wait.

Colorado School of Mines...to major in Chemical Engineering.

I heard the food is terrific  . Personally, I'm going for the ladies :D .

Union College in Schenectady, NY.

Awesome place. Sent my deposit in last week.

Several of my friends are going to NYU next year. :)

I cant wait for uni. Still a couple more years for me though Im afraid :(.

You guys have fun, as Im sure you will :).

College: College Of Eastern Utah
It's a junior college in Price, UT
Major: Computer Science

I decided to do CS instead of an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking. I'd rather have a degree than certs. Plus I can flow my CS class to go towards Networking.

I'm class of 2009... You guys will hate college for the first week, and LOVE it for the rest of the time. I'm gonan hate going home for the summer.

Oh and Facebook will become your best friend. Trust me ;)

That's what I do with my 20". I think it averages out to about $15 or $20 for ground shipping with insurance. DHL is usually the cheapest for me. Your other option is that you could probably check it as baggage (I assume you're flying there). There are two major downsides to this though. First, in place of the 25 pound monitor, you could have brought a 50 pound bag. Secondly, most airlines do not compensate for damage to electronic equipment in checked bags.

Yeah right. In my first week of college, I had two assignments due on the first day of class for two different classes, and a quiz the following friday.

Be prepared!

I don't know where you went to school, but honestly if you're not going out the first week of college like every night you're missing out. The funny part is that as you guys are probably peaking in excitement your average college kid is way fed up right now with finals, papers and exams ... its an interesting switch.

I almost went to CEU before I decided that I wanted to go to Westminster College. I would have saved SOOOOOOOOOO much money had I gone there instead to knock out the first two years.

parties parties parties :D

Class of 2010.....I remember when my little sister graduated from HS and they had that 00 thing going on. I remember being upset that I wasn't going to finish my grad degree until after 05. While not as much as others....I feel so old...:(

Fairfield University. Major mostly undecided but have recently been looking into Computer Science. It's either that, some type of Business, or some type of Education...so basically I have no idea. O boy...

It's open enrollment, so you have time if you'd like to go there. I chose it for a few reasons:
1 - Cheap, financially cheap.
2 - Junior College - heard its best to start here.
3 - Small class sizes - work closely with professors if you're having trouble.
4 - 100 Miles away from family - hehe, sorry but I need to get out and away from here.
5 - ... um... I got scholarships there so yeah! I'm good.

Sort of like MySpace...a social networking site. But it's broken down my colleges...you have to have a university e-mail account in order to register. (They're adding high school students as well, but it's primarily a college/university networking site.)

More info than you ever wanted to know can be found here.
