I’m rewatching Classic Doctor Who on BritBox UK, but I find the the BritBox App a bit a pain, so I thought I would sign up for it via Amazon Prime Channel.

However when up open the Apple TV app, go to Doctor Who Classic, it only gives me the option to open in BritBox app or buy seasons.

Other shows are fine. For example if I search for the sitcom Ghosts the TV app gives me the option to open it in BBC iPlayer, or Amazon Prime (via BritBox Channel) or BritBox. Checked a few BritBox shows and it’s the same.

Now I know I can go into the Prime app and find Doctor Who and play it, but I use the TV app for all my content and I don’t understand why I can’t when it is available on Amazon.

I’ve contacted Amazon but they have no idea what about I’m talking about.

My guess is that Apple doesn’t know that it’s available on Amazon, but who should tell who.

Basically I want it fixed 😂

Do you have any other streaming options available? HBO Max in the U.S. seems to have it.

Also available on tuboTV.

Welcome to the reason why you should never purchase add-on channels via Amazon's Prime Video or Apple or any other service. They are add-on channels with restrictions. I learned this the hard way years ago. The best option is to drop the Prime Video add-on and instead go right to the source and purchase a membership through BritBox. Stay clear of the middle-men, they are sleazy. Once you have a real BritBox membership, you download and install the BritBox app to your Apple TV (and/or Fire TV, Roku, etc.), sign in, and watch anything they offer without Apple or Amazon restrictions. If you don't like the Apple TV version of the BritBox app, you can watch programming through the Roku version or the Fire TV version of the app via those devices.

I watch a lot of BritBox using the BritBox app on my ATV 4K 2017 without any issues, although the app is less than well designed for sure. But I deal with BritBox, not Apple, not Amazon, directly with BritBox regardless on which device I watch their app, and that works out much better.

Greetings from a fellow Doctor Who fan. Do you live in the UK? If you do I believe that Britbox are the only service that stream classic DW in the UK. You can buy series or individual stories through the iTunes Store.
