I have just upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.4. I run Illustrator 9.0 in Classic mode, pending getting CS2. Now when I double click an Illustrator file it opens in Preview, rather than launching Illustrator as it used to in 10.2.8. I now have to open the files through the Illust.app. which is a pain . . .

How can I get it to open Illustrator as before?

Find one of those Illustrator files. Choose File menu -> Get Info... (cmd-I). Under Open With: choose Illustrator 9 and hit the Change All-button.

(Does Illustrator 9 start up at all? I.e. have you reinstalled Classic support?)

Success!

That's done the trick!

Thanks very much!!

(I have not re-installed Classic Support, not knowing quite how to. When installing 10.4 I just did the simplest upgrade, rather than Archive & Install or Wipe etc, since I didn't want to lose settings / data / re-install app. software. I may do this once I feel a bit more confident, since I'm sure the whole thing will function a bit more smoothly - I cannot now network, and keep getting an 'unable to find Trusted Connection' or something. Just a few little set-up issues I'm sure, which I will tackle when I have more time.)

Regards,

Andy
