I just did a clean install of LION and what I notice is lot of wallpapers are gone I only have 19 wallpapers, no more purple space (the one which is known as the mac wallpaper for yaers) or the snow leopard one.

Is it just because of clean install or does anyone have the same issue, and Apple just ditched a lot of wallpapers?

Cause I remember upgrading to Snow Leopard wallpapers were added instead of removed or replaced?

Did you look under the 'Nature' folder for background pictures and see if the Snow Leopard and the universe pictures were there? I didn't do a clean install, but noticed that the new Lion wallpapers are under the folder 'Desktop Pictures' and the older Snow Leopard wallpapers are under the 'Nature' folder now.
