Going to upgrade from Sierra to High Sierra, with a fusion drive. I have been researching for how to install with a SSD and HDD drive but did not find any real clear guidance. Does it matter? Is it the same with SSD or HDD? If anyone has a step by step checklist on how to do a clean install (with a Fusion drive) please post or link. I know it will need to be HFS+. Thank you.

Unless you "defuse" your drives, High Sierra will not upgrade you to APFS.

Simply boot from an external clone and use Disk Utility to erase Macintosh HD. The drives will not show separately but as one drive named Macintosh HD.

I defused my drives and installed High Sierra on the SSD drive. I keep all my data Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures on my external drive. I replaced the icons in the side bar with the new folders on the rotational drive that I named Media.
