Hi,

I'm using my first mac and not really sure of myself as far as realizing the scope of things that can be done.

So anyway I do plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard when it comes out and I'm assuming I'll be given the option to do an "upgrade" or "clean install". I'd like to do a clean install however will I be able to use my time machine backup on my external hard drive to transfer applications over? I of course will back up all my pictures, videos, and music to the standard partition of my hard drive before I try this, I'm just interested in time machining the apps.

Thanks for your help guys.

If you are doing a clean install but using Time Machine to back up from, there is no difference between just upgrading or doing a clean install. When you back up from Time Machine, your system will be exactly how you left it. Doing a clean install then backing up from Time Machine would be redundant. Hope this helps.
