I finally decided to upgrade my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.0.2

I thought of doing a complete fresh install and used the iTunes to do a restore with the IPSW file (Shift + click update button and select iPSW file)

I was thinking it would erase all the content in my phone but it didn't happen.

phone was updated to iOS 8.0.2 and I have all the contents.

What did I do wrong here to make it a clean install?

Update isn't a clean install. You have to shift+click the restore button.
