I have a late 2013 iMac that is super slow. When I start it up, it takes 10 minutes and everything is so sluggish, even just loading folders, especially now compared to my el cheapo macbook air. Ever since I got my first iMac about 10 or so years ago I would just update iOS and delete some apps here and there, but I think I now have accumulated so much crap, that it's just not running very well. To be honest, this iMac has been somewhat slow since I got it, but I had tech people check it and it seemed fine.

So long story short, what's the best way to do that a clean install? I use super duper for backup, but because that just takes a mirror image I imagine in would re-upload all the crap too? Do I just manually save all my own files and then format the hard disk? I have contacts, calendar, mail, etc on iCloud. Any better ways to do that?

Thanks so much!

You could do a clean install and then use "Migration Assistant" to selectively migrate what you need back using your SuperDuper Clone as the source.
