There's a long thread in the MP forums why writing 0s to an SSD as part of the clean OS re-install is death (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/841182/).

It reads like the best way to get the SSD back to factory speeds is through the Secure Erase command, so I'm curious if anyone with a new MBA has tried this maybe via a connected SuperDrive and Linux disc?

I know these Toshiba drives do a better job with trash, but I'm still curious if this works?

I'm also curious... I've done a little reading and I'm not sure if the Secure Erase is supported on the MBA's SSD. If anyone has tried this please share your experience!
