Coming from Windows PC to a first Apple MacMini, I have a question that I hope one can answer.....

How does one erase the Macintosh HD completely, so one can do a clean install of Lion on a MacMini 2011 if someday I chose to do so ? I have done a Lion recovery, simple, but cannot use Erase on the Macintosh HD.

I have the Lion USB thumb drive for emergencies, but wiping out the HD and starting clean would be helpful to me on this first time Apple Mac..

Many thanks

Hit option while booting, boot into the thumb drive, go through the process until you get a menu bar on top > utilities > disk utilities select your drive then click on erase..(I Zero) once complete, click the red traffic light, it'll take you back to the installer and go..But I'd clone first just in case..

Many thank you'd....

Just what I needed and yes I have already cloned.... ;)
