I just read a good article about cleaning your ipod lens that are heavily scratched. If you use a product called brasso and rub lightly with a very soft cloth it will eventually take off a layer of the lens and make it like new. You have to rub for like 30 minutes though. :(
 
yeah, there were a lot of discussions about this when the nano came out. Brasso works well.

Can't say I've ever heard anyone call it an iPod "lens" though.:p
 
Brasso's great, but be really careful with how you get the residue off. The plastic on the iPod scratches so easy that you'd better use a high-qual cloth like iClear or something else microfiber-ish.
