It was long overdue for me to clean my Macbook Pro. Being not only my first Mac, but my first Laptop, and my first LCD screened-computer, I wanted to proceed with caution.

After doing some research, and I decided on the "iKlear" line available at iklear.com, I decided to order through Amazon, to save a few dollars and purchased this package, KLEARSCREEN iKlear Apple Polish Kit. The package that arrived (quite quickly, 3 days for $5 shipping), was not the same one that was pictured, an updated package arrived...

* The instructions that were included were quite vague. But, this is a polishing kit, not a robot, so a lot of instruction was not needed. I was however looking for some kind of usage tips, but only short paragraphs were included.

The cleaning. I opted to clean the bottom surface as a test first, and to make sure everything would work out. I spritzed the polish to cover the surface then rubbed in small circles. This was a mistake, as it left odd trails, so I wiped horizontally and this seemed to do the trick.

*Wash. Rinse. Repeated for the top surface. Worked perfect with the exception of highlighting a tiny knick I have managed to get somehow. This however, is not the job of the polish.

Now the scary part, the LCD screen. Spritzed the polish on, wiped with the same "Kloth" and everything was kosher.

Everything worked like a charm for reasonable price.

* The travel size kits included (6) did not work as well.

* Used on my iPod, for the simple fact it was listed as an included object that is cleanable by the product. This however, was a joke and perhaps futile effort for the reason that my iPod [iPod photo] is pretty scratched up on the back. Don't expect the same magic when using this particular product with iPods.

Just wanted to put this review out there, its my first, and I'm sure MacRumors is riddled with much of the same type of post; but at least I didn't ask when the new iPods would be released... ;)

New iPods and PoweBook G5's next Tuesday!

Anywho, thanks for the review. I'm in the same boat with my MacBook being my first LCD, Mac and laptop; plus, I was wondering what I could use on it to clean it, so this review really helped.

thanks for the review.. it's always nice to buy products you know others have tested and liked (especially when it comes to our precious macs! :p ). i'd heard about iklear and knew it was popular, but hadn't talked to anyone directly about their experience with it.

haha..yeah, don't be.. mine's the same way. i keep freaking out that i've found a dead pixel, only to wipe it away... :p

Hahah. I freak out like that about once a day. I really should get on the ball and clean my screen, haha.

Sorry to raise this from the dead, but does anyone know where I can get this in Canada? Been looking for a while.

I thought you were not suppose to spray directly on the screen, but on the blue wipe that comes with it and then clean that way? This is the way I've been doing it with my iKlear kit. I thought the spraying directly on the screen coould damage the screen.
