i was wondering if there was a way to clean out my Mac without deleting my files? is there a systems folder that stores that kind of info?

for example, i have adobe illustrator or calendar and i have a bunch of stuff that i worked on, but i dont want them to show. is there a way to make it so that when you open the app its just like when it was freshly installed?

TIA!

You want to reset the preferences? Go to the Library/Preferences folder and delete the Illustrator prefs. It will take you back to day 1 with that program. Or any other program that you get rid of the preferences file.
