I just noticed some grey/black parts inside of the headphone jacks of all my iPods.
I think they result from the repeated plugging in and out of the headphones.

1. Do you have that, too?

2. Should I clean it or better leave it as it is?

Well I dont clean mine and it's ok. The thing is, the plastic in the jack doesn't affect the sound. The jack connects to the metal connectors in the jack and quite frankly those are what you should worry about, fortunately apple makes good quality jacks and there's no issues with that so, in the words of a well repected author: Don't Panic.

Okay, so these grey and black areas inside the headphone jack are normal?
Do you have them, too?

I wondered what happened there, maybe some kind of oxidation or something. And if it could be bad for the golden contacts.

Is anybody else having these dark spots inside the headphone jack?
