Hey guys.

So, I've just taken delivery of our new MacBook Air and have it all set up. However, the HDD is pretty full having brought over the previous Macs setup.

Now a lot of this is Applications and Documents that I either do want to keep but the big culprit according to "About this mac > Storage" is Library with 48GB.

What I'm wondering is

a) What is the size of a Library File on a clean install.
b) If I only brought across Users and Applications in Migration Assistant would things be clearer

I get the impression looking though Library, especially Application Support that Mac OS seems to be leaving a lot of stuff behind from previous versions - is that true? I'm certainly finding files there that are associated with applications I no longer have (looking at you Google Earth)

Any tips?

Download DiskWave from here:
It's small in size and free.

Open DiskWave and go to the preferences.
Put a checkmark in "show invisible files".
Close preferences.

The DiskWave window shows you all your volumes and drives in plain English (no ridiculous graphical formats).
Click on any item "on the left".
Now, you'll see what's ON the volume, listed in order of "largest to smallest".
You can easily locate what's eating up your space.
