Cleaning up Final Cut Express 4

As a first time Mac user and FCE4 user I've just finished several mini projects & am now wanting to clean/delete all the old files/footage off the Mac to make way for some new work.

Is it as easy as deleting the footage from the relevant folder along with the render files? Is there anything more/less that needs to be done?

Or is there another easier/preferred way to go about this?

only way i know is to go through and manually delete the contents of the folders under "final cut express documents" folder. i would love it if there were a more automated way
