Cleaning up fonts in Photoshop

Not sure if this is a MAC question or a photoshop question.

I have a fonts listed with such things as "bold, semi bold, thin" I want to just have the font, then I can select it on the right of photoshop. You can see in the image below what I mean.

Do the fonts show up like that in other non adobe apps? If so, then it'll be a mac question.
I'd actually really love to know the answer, I gave up a long time ago in trying to organize my typeface collection

Just does it in PS, It works right when I try in in aps such as TextEdit.
