Cleaning up Photos - iPhoto events

Been needing to clear up my library for a long time. I have deleted quite a few photos bit by bit over time, one thing stands out always though is that in my Albums are iPhoto Events. I remember this being a thing, cant remember its purpose now though. - Can I delete this album without losing the photos? - Is it still needed?

Side note - some apps on my iPhone that need to use the photo library often the iPhoto events default to the top and I have to scroll through till I get to the main album.

If I remember correctly, the old iPhoto app had two ways to organize photos: albums and events. I think each import was a new event. In the upgrade process to the newer Photos app, the old events were converted to albums, and put in a folder called "iPhoto Events".

My understanding is that all those albums inside the "iPhoto Events" folder are just like any other albums in Photos.app. That is, you can delete any or all of the albums in that folder if you don't want them, and the photos inside those albums will remain in your library/All Photos view (and in any other album they were in). The photos themselves will not be deleted. When you try to delete an album, you will get a message to that effect (screenshot below).

If you're sure you want to delete all of the albums in the "iPhoto Events" folder, you can just delete the folder. You'll get the message (below), but again, the photos themselves will remain in your library.

(I'm quite confident I'm correct, and I did delete one of my iPhoto Events albums and verified that the photos remained -- but just in case it would be smart to have a backup copy of your "xxxxx.photoslibrary" file somewhere!)
