So I just bought the Clear app and love it's simplicity. However, I cant get notification badges to work with it. Is the only way to see your tasks is to open the app?

To answer your question....Clear is very simplistic. No reminders, not notifications. It's really just a very pretty list making app.

Just my opinion obviously.

If you're jailbroken there is a new theme (introduced yesterday) called, "SWiPE". Looks exactly like the Clear app. (It's located on Dreamboard.)

Not just yours. Mine too.

I think the UI is fantastic, wonderful, revolutionary, etc.
