clear folder icon (Ahhh now i broke it)

I asked this in another thread but it was most likely in the wrong thread. I also searched and did not have any luck so here goes.


I am trying to get back to a more simple look. I had the Heavy Metal HD theme for over a month.

I had changed the folder "icon" background to better match the heavy metal theme, but now i would like it to be clear (and just show the wallpaper), but i cannot remember how to change it.

I have included a picture of the folder "icon" with it's ugly background and also a picture of what the folder looks like open. Open it looks fine, clear the way i want.

there are transparent folder themes that will do that

Either one of the attached themes should work for you. It's the same theme basically however one image has a border and the other one does not.

Thanks for the replies. I have folder enhancer and springtomize and could have one of those to change the icon background.

nope folder enhancer lets you change teh background of the inside of the folder but not the icon

These are Winterboard themes however, if you want to SSH them into place, simply extract the icons that are in the themes and put them into place.

Winterboard works, just was not sure how to get them working.

If using Winterboard then these folder themes should go above everything else. Or, if you're using a main theme then simply take the images out of the two themes I attached and stick them in your com.apple.springboard bundle and you should be good to go.

Ok i downloaded a clear folder icon theme from Cydia and activated it through Winterboard and now funny things are happing.

My springboard is all black, and double tapping the home button does not bring up the app switcher.

I have went in and removed the folder icon theme but still the problems are there.

I am thinking i may need to restore and start over

deactivate and remove theme, reboot

that should fix the issue, then you can troubleshoot after that by slowly readding the stuff.

I removed them through Cydia, but the problem is still there.

put the theme you want at the top of the winterboard list, uncheck, re-check then respring

Well thank you to everyone for the help, i was having no luck so out of a wave of panic and frustration, i said the hell with it and just restored my phone. Of course it updated to the latest IOS 4.2.10.

I am without JB until iOS 5 comes out and it has an unteathered JB for it. It has only been a day but i miss biteSMS, SBSettings, infinidock, being able to nest folders and the lockscreen.
