So basically I'm going to be staying in the US for a few months and I wanted to get your opinions on this setup.

Rather then getting a cell phone and be locked into a plan, I was looking into the Clear iSpot +$25 unlimited data plan their offering with no term.

So I was going to get that + Line2 on my ipod touch and just use it for a few months while i'm there. Do you think this is a good replacement for a cell phone?

Anyone have opinions on the ispot vs the mifi?
Or any cell phone ideas and plans that would work with my situation?

Clear iSpot coverage is not good enough. I seriously mean it. The coverage is still no where near other carrier's 3G support.

I'm not too concerned about the coverage, as I'm staying in Las Vegas and searching around I've read a lot of ppl are happy with the coverage in the Vegas area. Plus they have a 14 day return policy so if the coverage is really that bad, then I can just return it.

^Why skype over line2?

I have a Virgin Mobile mifi and it's completely useless for VOIP. Tried it with my iPad, old iPhone (2g) and iPT. The call quality is garbage.

I used Whistle phone. Whistle phone works just great over wifi. I was hoping to use my Google voice # + Whistle + mifi 3g, ditch cell minutes and contracts, and be data only with the iPod.

Maybe this has something to do with VM's 3g service, or with the latency of using a mifi device.

Anyone have good quality using VOIP via a mifi or iClear device?
