Does anyone know if Apple has historically moved leftover last gen watches and bands into their clearance store? I usually buy the latest and greatest so never really pay attention to what they do with leftover stock.

S8 isn’t worth the $ to me coming from an S5, but may want to grab an S7 to go cellular, not give up my always on display, and get the bigger screen. I do see some refurbs up right now, but that’s about it.

I have read somewhere (sorry, no link at hand) that Apple prefers to sell off excess stock via various Sales channels (including eBay) rather than officially on their website. May be dependent on region, though.

Just get the refurb, they come with new cases, batteries and the one year warranty. Only difference is the box.

Otherwise wait till the Series 8 is in stores next Friday and you’ll see places like Best Buy discounting Series 7. Amazon has already started.

Walmart right now has new 45mm S7’s GPS only for $300 and 45mm GPS+Cellular for $400. That’s better price than Apple Refurbished.

I ended up grabbing the refurb in case they sell out. Figure if S7 gets cleared out at a significantly lower price after Friday, I’ll just return.

Though they actually don’t replace anything on Apple Watch. My understanding is Watches only hit the refurb store if they’re in perfect physical condition & at 100% battery health. My guess is “refurb” watches are returns that meet the criteria, they just don’t bother calling them open-box. I don’t think it was widely known, but back in the day you could buy freshly returned items in perfect condition at a discount in stores, they called it “refresh” stock.

That’s a solid deal, but I definitely want cellular and 45 is too big for me.

The Apple Store does not stock or sell prior versions of devices, once they’re no longer on the website. You’re only option at that point is buying through a third party.

Apple Watch don’t get a new battery or case.

Anyway, I just bought an S7 from the refurb Australian store for roughly $125 USD less than an equivalent S8. Great deal, but I don’t get to choose my watch and band colours separately. Oh well. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ya, just saw the fine print. I assumed they were the same as iOS devices. I believe they can’t make it in the refurbish store without being in perfect condition though.

Turns out it’s more like NEAR perfect. Mine arrived Wednesday and does have a small spot with a scuff/few small scratches just below and between the mic hole and Digital Crown. Doesn’t break color and can only be seen with light at certain angles. I think it would be noticeable on a lighter case based on one of my silver S5 scratches, but not visible at all in midnight while wearing.

In the end it’s a refurb at a great price and works perfectly with 100% battery health, so can’t really complain. More annoyed about Spotify streaming being broken as soon as I get a cellular watch for phone-free workouts 🤦🏻‍♂ 😂
