From time to time iChat doesn't clear out some temp data and encounters errors.

Here's an example (I'm not really in another chat here)

Quitting iChat fully and starting it again does not resolve the issue. I need to logout of my account or restart my machine.

I used to know a line of unix code that would clear the temp data for iChat specifically or something, but I lost it.

Anyone know how to go about this?

Clearing iChat's cache can be done in the Finder. With iChat quit completely, navigate to ~/Library/Caches (where ~ is your home folder) and find a folder in there called com.apple.iChat. Delete it.

Note for Lion users: The ~/Library folder is hidden by default, but it's easy to get to via the Go To Folder... command in the Finder.
