I'm not sure if this was asked before but I couldn't find it in a search. I use Safari 4.0.3. When I clear the browser history, the folder library/caches/metadata/safari/history still has a log of the pages I visit. Is there anyway to clear this besides manually. Would clearing this folder change anything on my mac? Thanks for all the help.

No to the question ending in a period.

No to the question ending with a question mark.

...as far as I know, that is.

You have to be nervous for 24 hours, as that's the lowest interval for automatic purging of the History. So, only visit those nasty sites every other day, then hide the computer, um, all the time.

You could always write a script (AppleScript, Automator, Bash, etc.) that deleted items in there and either run that manually or use crontab to schedule it to run periodically. It's a bit of effort for the results though.
