Hiya, yet again chaps.

Iam sure that a few weeks ago when I did a little research before becoming a mac-ist that I read somewhere that one could set up a clever folder, that did things when a file was dropped into it.

For instance setting up a folder which will automatically compress a file dropped into it, and then send a copy to a pre-set email address, and if it is a music file send also send it to my PC over my network.

Folder actions are easily one of the most useful tools in all of OS X, yet most Mac users don't know a things about this feature! :p

Anyway, you'll have to write the script for it, or get someone to write it for you. Setting up folder actions is one of the best ways to increase the speed of your work flow. I recommend getting started with Automator or if you're feelign dangerous learning AppleScript.

If you want a certain folder action I can write you one, just post the details of what you want to do. Or PM me.

Also, this thread should probably be in the OSX forum. Mods?

Aha!

Sorry i posted in the wrong place.
I just assumed that all mac users would be au fait with such a process.
But it would seem that they are not.

WHere is the best place for me to learn please?

I also didn't post it anywhere else as I feel at home in this bit of the site!

It seems such a powerful and handy feature Iam surprised that everyone doesn't use it.
