Hi Everybody,
Having some issues with my computer at work. As the guy most familiar with computer parts and bits, I tried to sort this out before we brought it in to service. I'd appreciate any help or tips from you all.
Problems started when I went to shut off the computer, it hung up as it sometimes does, so I held the power button down to shut it off. On the next boot up, I heard a half spin and a click sound coming from the front of the computer (it repeated itself every two seconds or so). No power went to the monitors, or the keyboard, it just wouldn't boot up (also no classic apple "bong" sound). On closer inspection I noticed that it was the DVD-ROM making the sounds. Not having a replacement on hand, I disconnected it and removed it from the case. I went to boot back up... no clicking sounds, everything sounded like a normal start. But no apple "bong" and still no power to the monitors or keyboard. Suspecting that maybe the DVD-ROM and hard drive failed as a team, I swapped the HD with a spare. Still no boot. The power light comes on, everything spins up, fans come on, but no power to the monitor or keyboard-and no boot screens. No RAM indicator lights at all, isn't there supposed to be at least one light on to show that it's at least powered?
I'm stumped.
The only thing I can think of is obviously the PSU might have died when I forced it to shut down?
The computer was running perfectly before I shut it down.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Taylor
