Hey everyone,

I searched the forums and didn't see any topics like this one...Just a couple days ago, on startup, I could hear a faint clicking/tapping noise. Assuming it was the hard drive, I backed everything up, ran hardware test, disk utility etc etc, and nothing appears to be wrong. I also noticed that the clicking seems to be coming from just above the keyboard rather than down by the trackpad where the hard drive is, but I may be wrong.

Nothing is freezing and the clicking only occurs on startup, after the computer has been off for several hours...should I be worried?

Thanks

the only moving parts to cause a click would be the optical drive, which lives under the keyboard.

It may be overkill, but you could try taking the optical drive out, then starting up without it to try ruling that out.

I'm still under warranty, so I'd rather not open it up. I'll probably just take it to the Apple Store just to be on the safe side.
