iPod Clickwheel durabilty?

Hey folks,

So I've got a 4th gen 40gb iPod that I've had for about 14 months now (yes out of warrenty) and I've now noticed that about 1/4-1/3 of the wheel no longer responds(see pic).

All the buttons still work but when I thumb over that portion I get nothing.

Anyone else experienced this?

The resistive "wheel" and buttons are different components. If it's already out of warranty i would say open it up and make sure you don't have a loose connection and if that doesn't help I'm sure the replacement part can't be too expensive.
