Mac OSX 10.4. On Firefox. dragged clipping of message from desktop to Yahoo email reply turms into list of numbers and some words from the message.
Please keep answer simple as I am new to this with no other user assistance.
Thanks

Are you trying to attach a file to an email using Yahoo in Firefox? Also, what kind of file is this clipping? Is is a text file (.doc, .txt) or what?

I went to Sherlock and translated a message. Dragged it to desktop. Under the symbol it has four word of the message and "tClipping". I can send the message using Safari but I want to use Firefox as it is quicker and more relaible.
Thanks for your help

Sherlock? Anyway, if dragging it into safari works properly but it has a problem when dragged into firefox, then the problem is firefox.

Why the ? with Sherlock. Is there something wrong with it?
Where can I go to for a simple answer about firefox?
Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

I didn't know anyone still used Sherlock myself

You can PM one of the users... "clevin"
He is the resident guru on Firefox
I'm sure he can point you in the right direction

I didn't even know sherlock was ever ported to OS X, I thought it ended with OS 9. What OS X version number are you using? You can find the answer by going to the apple menu in the upper left hand corner of your screen and selecting the menu item called "about this mac."

OP original post says 10.4

The problem is probably caused by mis-communication between firefox and OSX, when you drag the file from desktop into firefox, firefox only writes down the address of the file, rather than the content.

Here is several suggestion, either one should help your problem.

1. after translation, selected the translated text in sherlock, instead of dragging it to desktop, you can drag it directly into mail-composing area of yahoo mail within firefox window (I will post to your original thread in the forum, with an attachment showing the dragging process.).

2. or if dragging is not very easy (I found it hard to drag text from sherlock. You can select the texted, press keyboard combo "cmd(apple key)+c" to copy the text, then goto yahoo mail's composing area in firefox, press key combo "cmd+v", it should be pasted directly.

3. find some other online translating service, such as google language tool

let me know if you have further problem.

Good luck :)

Brilliant advice with simple instructions. I now have repetitive strain injury from repeating your instructions and it works.
If it's OK I will be back with further problems.

Thanks
