With macOS Ventura, Apple is bringing a native Weather app to the Mac, alongside a new Clock app that lets users set timers, see world clocks, set alarms, and more.

macOS Ventura adds several features to the Mac, including a new way to manage multiple windows with Stage Manager, the ability to use your iPhone as a FaceTime camera, a redesigned experience for System Preferences, now called System Settings, and more.

macOS Ventura is currently available to developers for beta testing and will be available for public beta testers in July.

I worry there might be too many new features or additions. Sure they all look nice but we shall see how they work in the real world once released.

Classic Mac OS used to have an Alarm Clock app, actually, so this is kind of a nice homage to the past.

The clock app didn't make it to System 7, so I'm guessing it was discontinued in System 3 or around so. But if you play with System 1.1 in Mini vMac, you'll see an Alarm Clock app. It's very simple and widget-like. Fascinating!

Nice surprise to get new weather app on the MacOS, no more weather.com I guess. The new clock app I yet to see what the difference are but sounds good also.

Wow, you really need a 2017 Macbook Pro to use Ventura... The noose is getting tighter and tighter... Planned obsolescence y'all.
I think the issue is tuning. Apple is not like Microsoft where supporting an "infinite" amount of hardware choices is a thing.

It is planned, it is obsolescence, but I don't believe it to be as nefarious as it sounds.

The line had to be drawn somewhere, and the line sits between Intel and M-Series chips going forward (once Ventura is released).

I'm hoping this adds the ability to show the weather in the menu bar as an icon with the temperature that expands when clicked on. I currently pay a small yearly fee to iStat for this and I'd rather use a built-in system app and save $7. The weather where I live is constantly changing and I'm also a bit of a weather geek.

So will this open the app after clicking on the weather widget instead of going to a website?

Apple weather predictions are poor where I live but clock is very welcome. I often set timers and not having to use my iPhone for that anymore it’s great.

Great! I've been waiting so many years to have the Weather app and the Calculator on my mac... I will finally have them on my 2014 mac mini.

Oh, wait!

The screams you hear are from weather app developers and those who have bought them to bring this functionality to their Macs.
