Clock Settings on Powerbook

Hi

When I switch on my PowerBook it asks for me to set the date and time, so I do, but it keeps losing the settings i am entering and each time i reboot it asks me to enter the details again.

Does anyone know why?

If this were a PC I'd say your CMOS died, but since it's a Mac laptop, I'm not sure that battery exists....so I'm not entirely sure. Could you just set it to update date/time automatically?

Have tried that but it just cancels all the settings to do with the clock when I reboot. it's really strange, not come across this problem before, but it starting to get annoying now!

You don't have any programs installed that try to take over the clock or anything, do you?

It sounds like the PRAM battery has died.

No I don't think any of the programmes would take over the clock.

Sorry to sound stupid but how/can I fix the pram if it has died?

You need to replace the PRAM battery.
