I was hoping the update might allow always-on capability for the clock on my iPhone 15. But it still has to be activated by touch. Any idea if this may be coming in the future?

That requires Always-On display (AOD)* — basically, a dynamic refresh rate capable (physical) display.

The iPhones that feature AOD are the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air.

It is not available on iPhone 13 and older/earlier models, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, or iPhone 16e.

The 2025 iPhone lineup is the first to include AOD on all models.

* Apple’s chosen necessity anyway as dynamic or variable refresh rate displays can consume far less power.
