cloned drive

I just cloned my macbook pro hard drive. If i have it in my external enclosure it boots up fine, but once i put it into the laptop it will no longer boot to it. Disk utility reads it as bootable and it even comes up as a option when i hold down the option key on boot. I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same problem or had a solution. Thanks.
