Hey,

I just got a new mac mini with Fusion Drive. I would like to not use migration assistant, but still avoid a total fresh install...

How do i clone the hd from my old mini to a new mini with fusion drive???
Does a fusion drive work in target disk mode???

THANKS FOR ALL HELP GOOD MAC PEEPS!!!

r.

Cloning from an old system to a new system may not work as it may be missing device drivers the new system needs.

from what i understand, mountain lion's disk utility can see a Fusion Drive in target disk mode... is this true?

thanks,
r.

As said, putting the OS from an older Mac onto a newer Mac may not work.

Why don't you want to use Migration Assistant? You can select what items to bring over. And if you're planning to clone, you're going to bring everything over, anyway!

A Fusion Drive is just a normal disk volume, for most purposes. The fact that it is two physical devices is largely transparent to user operations.
